To assist in ensuring timely and compliant importation of products shipped as internal transfers to the USA & Canada from foreign locations. Compliance includes, US Customs, EPA, FDA, and any other regulatory bodies that raise interest in the shipment.
To minimize and control costs of importation by reducing hold storage fees and efficient dispatch of containers to final site locations, including monitoring and coding associated transportation costs.
The position reports to the Customs and Forwarding Manager with a dotted line to Area QHSSE & Compliance Manager
Have the authority to act within the Functional Description, agreed budgets and within the WSS chart of authority as outlined in GIMS
Ensure that all import transactions meet compliance standards set forth by US Customs, EPA, FDA, and any other regulatory bodies that raises interest in the shipment, including monitoring TSCA (EPA) & FDA approvals of all imported products
Maintain an updated HTS classification data base and operational costs reports
Support and participate in maintaining records on all customs files and records in compliance with customs requirements and duty drawback filing
Assist MP Operations with intermodal transpiration needs, including cross boarder entries between Canada & USA
Assist in correlating and filing all sales reports into fixed format for departmental declarations of the Duty Drawbacks for all US and Canada imports
Code and verify vendor invoices as per accounting requirements
Coordinate import shipments between 3PL and internal distribution to ensure efficiency in Supply Chain
This position will be measured against:
Accuracy and timeliness of duties assigned
Compliance and governing laws, rules, and regulations
Prior experience with clearance of imported/exported products to/from the U.S.A.
Strong interpersonal skills and customer relationship building skills
Able to maintain high level of confidentiality
Strong Excel experience, including good knowledge of the other MS Office products
Ability to organise/co-ordinate and strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
Reliable, enthusiastic and professional manner
Proactive and independent
Experience in the maritime industry & marine chemicals
