General Manager - Bahrain

The group also occupies a leading position in the global maritime service industry through Wilhelmsen Maritime Services AS, delivering products and services to some 200 shipyards and 22 000 vessels annually.
The General Manager is overall responsible for growth and business development of Ships Agency division (both account and port sales) and profitability in own territory.
As a role model, the General Manager is responsible for leading, motivating and governing the employees in the organisation.
The GM reports to the Ships Agency Director – Middle East and is part of his management team.
The GM has the authority to act within this functional description, agreed budgets and within the chart of authority as outlined in the company’s Global Integrated Management System (GIMS).
Drive overall growth and profitability across Ships agency division
Optimise business opportunities, in close cooperation with the Ships Agency Director, in line with WSS strategy, global offers and related local opportunities.
Ensure efficient implementation of global initiatives (incl. campaigns and promotions).
Contribute to the development of the AOP and ensure implementation.
Develop the WSS business:
Evaluate and action existing and new customer opportunities within the agreed Ships Agency division’s strategies;
Develop an efficient organisation with the right geographical capability and capacity to capture growth opportunities;
Promote, sell and implement the WSS offers to achieve maximum customer penetration and optimal margins.
Ensure an optimal organisation structure with the right people in the right place:
Scale organisation to existing and future business opportunities.
Optimise organisation in line with business requirements and ensure appropriate competence, including training and development.
Ensure that applicable specialist competence is in place in the country (sales & operations) in cooperation with the Ships Agency Director.
Lead, motivate, develop and work with and through the team of direct reports in accordance with WW values and leadership principles.
Drive operational excellence by ensuring focus on process efficiency, inventory levels, control, active management and coordination of own offices, agents, subcontractors and suppliers.
Ensure that WSS operates in accordance with the governing elements, policies and processes, as well as local legal, statutory and fiscal obligations.
The General Manager will be measured against:
Overall profit/loss (port and account) for own territory
Sales and Gross Margin development in own territory
Key efficiency ratios in BIS
Contribution to total WSS results, development and deliverables as stated in the strategic plan and AOP
Higher education and relevant business experience, preferably in Ships Agency Business
Good leadership skills with a proactive, decisive and result-oriented approach
Able to meet deadlines through good time management and allocation of priorities
Excellent communication skills and a good command of the English language (oral and written)
Ability to manage and motivate own and externally employed service personnel
Ability to co-operate across organisation lines internally and towards customers
